NEWS: UBD-LAnDS Shift a New Paradigm in Research Partnership

Our representative Prof Megat received merchandise from Acting Assistant Land Comissioner, Tuan Hj Zulkifli from Jabatan Tanah Brunei.

A delegation from Land Administration and Development Cluster, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia paid a three day official visit of Jabatan Tanah and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) from May 23 to 25, 2014.

After having a two days fruitful discussion at Jabatan Tanah and Training Unit, Ministry of Development, then direct to UBD for meeting with International and Publics Relations division regarding to our research group activities. The team, which consisted of four lecturers and one PhD candidate, was briefed about the historical development and current status of UBD. In addition, the activities of the University with regards to community engagement and research were explained to the delegation. They have also visited several facilities of the University, inside as well as outside the Main Campus.

Dr. Dayang Shamsinar Hj Awang Hussin , Deputy Director International and Public Relations Office, said during the occasion that there is high interest from UBD’s side to forge meaningful and successful partnership with UTM especially with research group, Land Administration and Development Studies (LAnDS) in terms joint research projects, among others.

Beside Dr. Dayang, from LAnDS's side; our respectable professor, Prof Sr. Dr Megat Mohamed Ghazali Megat Abdul Rahman do briefing UBD about UTM, LAnDS and the new academia idealism as well as UTM put an effort to achieve it. According to Prof Megat, LAnDS try to took part in international research collaboration, so that UBD is one of potential partner in the future. This meeting also involve three senior lecturers, Dr. Yusnanie (Social Sciences) and Dr. Laled (LIDAR and Geographic) and Dr. Rafaee Shahif (Waqf and Islamic Studies) from UBD. It was a great moment to all participants to introduce their expert subject matter. Eventually, this official visit can be told successful and brought an inspired motivation to both side as what have been planned earlier.
