When students think about Cadastre Survey or GIS, one particular lecturer comes to mind. This educator is Mr.Kamaruzaman Abd Rasid (En.Man), known for his unique sense of humour and ability to impart knowledge to students, thereby creating better administrator and executive in land matters. He obtained his degree in Land Surveying and Mapping Science at North East London Polytechnic United Kingdom and served at UTM as a senior lecturer for past 38 years since 1975. In other side of his career, he was appointed by UTM as a UTM Staff Bowling Team Manager for 13 years. He also played an instrumental role in designing and developing the Land Administration and Development programme when it was first introduced.

In conjunction with his retirement day and his 60th birthday on 28th February, Land Administration and Development (LAD) Cluster held a farewell hi-tea for him. The event was held at the Maharani Suites, Pulai Spring Resort and attended by some 30 postgraduate students and lecturers from LAD including Deputy Dean (Academic) Faculty of Geoinformation and Real Estate, Associate Professor Dr. Hishamuddin Mohd Ali.

In his speech, Mr Kamaruzaman thanked Cluster for organising the farewell hi-tea and expressed his sadness for leaving UTM after his 38-year stay.

"My heart is heavy to leave UTM, but I have to admit that it is time to go back to the reality of life as a retired staff. LAD's member are very close to me. We are just like a big family"

We, the member of LAnDS Group and LAD itself, wish him Happy Retirement and the best wishes to Mr Kamaruzaman for his next phase of life. Thank you from us for everything.
